Gary Smith – “I have been running for about 20 years and doing marathons for the last five years. While I love running marathons, my favorite runs are on the trails in San Pedro and Palos Verdes.
Running Accomplishments
- 15 marathons (PR 3Hr 32min)(LA Marathon 5X, Catalina 4X, Long Beach 4X, Big Sur, Palos Verdes Marathon)
- 2 UltraMarathons (6Hr 30min)
- Many 10K’s (PR 42:00)
- Former Cross Country Runner in High School
For me ChiRunning® is all about making running easier and more enjoyable again for people. About making running a practice that can grow you physically, mentally, and spiritually. I learned ChiRunning from Danny Dreyer and Kathy Griest in 2005. Teaching ChiRunning® dove tails into my job as a college instructor, empowering people by teaching them tools to improve their lives.”
Currently I am in training as a certified Yoga Instructor studying under Rosie Good of Yoga Bindu in Los Angeles. Yoga has been instrumental in keeping my muscles flexible which helps rest and recovery.

I am available for personal coaching to teach ChiRunning or Trail Running or Speed Work on Tracks. I have trained over a thousand people improve their running as an official coach of the Beach Runners marathon and half marathon training program
